More than ever, shoppers crave a shopping experience that’s personalized to them. Throw in buying trends that are always changing and the continuing rise of E-commerce, it can be hard for retailers to keep up.

As one of the world’s largest IT infrastructure services, Kyndryl has solutions ranging from personalized at-home shopping experiences for customers to greater visibility in brick-and-mortar inventory and more informed warehouse operations.

Kyndryl has the solutions for retailers to influence the modern shopper where they are with exactly what they want, and they were ready to showcase their skills at the National Retail Federation’s Big Show. Kyndryl had the platform and capabilities but needed a solution to showcase their technology and architecture in a way that would draw audiences in and keep them engaged, even after the trade show.

High-quality tech for everyday customers
We mocked up the anticipated experience of the attendees, starting with the Home scenario, making their way through the Warehouse and eventually the Storefront for pickup.
Bringing the store experience home
Our first chapter in the overall  immersive experience gave retailers a look at how Kyndryl helps create a cohesive shopping experience for customers from the comfort of their own homes. From here, event attendees could see how easy Kyndryl makes it easy to find the perfect outfit, with a guided view of a fictitious app. Shoppers get personalized recommendations driven by intelligent data and preferences. In addition, we recreated an immersive living room scene showcasing an AI-enabled digital try-on mirror powered by Kyndryl’s edge computing capabilities — showing that with Kyndryl, any room is a dressing room.
More visibility for brick and mortar
Because Kyndryl’s technology is so well spread across the retail ecosystem, our second experience for the Big Show booth focused on the in-store inventory experience for retailers. Our experience looked into how Kydryl supports near-real-time inventory management across distribution centers and individual stores, giving managers and customers a better view of what’s available and where it’s available — creating a smoother experience for customers and better insights for managers.
Streamlining the warehouse
As retail becomes more digital, returns are a bigger piece of the puzzle. For the third Big Show immersive experience, we took attendees behind the scenes to showcase how Kyndryl’s real-time analytics help inform the auto-sorting of merchandise at the warehouse level — including the use of autonomous robots. Our immersive tour of capabilities showed attendees how the right analytics gets retail items back in the queue faster and ready for the next sale.
Thriving in the afterglow
While these immersive experiences and their underlying stories showcasing Kyndryl’s IT infrastructure were built for the NRF Big Show, they were designed to have a continued life after the event ended. Each experience was created to be a part of the team or to stand alone and tell a unique story based on individual needs.
Email campaign
Since the event, these immersive experiences have been used by Kyndryl’s marketing and sales team to help retailers realize their full potential in a mixed-medium world. They have been used as a guided presentation or a self-guided piece sent to customers through email. Since its launch, Kyndryl’s immersive retail story has racked up nearly 1000 sessions and counting.
